LETTERS: We condemn the heinous murder of six people in a madrasah in an attack at a Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, last Friday.

We abhor the sudden killing sprees in the camps as the authorities could have detected that there were signs of violent groups operating inside.

Law enforcers must strengthen security surveillance in the camps. We regret the predicaments of the besieged refugees are getting worse as even the refugee camps are not safe.

The attack on the madrasah killed four people and subsequently three more succumbed to injuries seems to be pre-planned.

We urge that the perpetrators must be hunted and those linked to the criminal gangs must be apprehended and face justice. The authorities must not allow the camps to be turned into a criminal hub.

The assassination of Rohingya leader, Muhib Ullah, should have triggered an aggressive security monitoring. The camps are now not a safe refuge as it is vulnerable to attacks.

Due to absence of law enforcement or even some among them may be colluding with the attackers exposing the refugees are exposed to assaults.

Terrorizing the camps is to instil fear among the Rohingya refugees and they would be easy prey for the culprits to manoeuvre in the overcrowded camps.

We call for a crackdown on the armed groups in the camps who have been trading in drugs, weapons, and taking over businesses and shops. It has been reported that they are killing people and taking Rohingyas hostage.

The killing of the Rohingyas was an act barbarism. We are extremely concerned that the Rohingya refugees are now forced to live in danger of attacks. The camps must be cleansed from criminals trying to terrorise the refugees.

Enforcement must be bucked up to protect the innocent refugees. The terrorists named ARSA should be investigated to get to the source of who are behind the movement.

The refugees cannot be left unprotected and live at the mercy of the assailants. The Rohingya refugees have suffered immensely as they are the most persecuted ethnic in the world. Taking refuge in the camps should give them the temporary safety they need.

It is imperative that the Bangladesh authority takes firm action to safeguard the lives of the refugees. The killing shows how the situation is so insecure and the camps are porous to be infiltrated by armed criminals.

Law and order are paramount and the Rohingya refugees will be left to be manipulated by armed groups in their recruitment drive if no action is taken.
