Myanmar govt confirms abuse of Rohingya civilians after torture video emerges

The Myanmar State Counsellor Office has announced that action will be taken against several police officers who were caught on video rounding up and beating Rohingya men in Koe Tan Kauk Village in northern Rakhine State.

UBa Sein doesn’t quite fit your idea of the indigent Rohingya refugee from Myanmar. An accountant in Sheffield, U.K., he is a graduate of Rangoon University, doesn’t even use his Muslim name Mohammad Shah. “Many Rohingyas have two names, I prefer to use my Burmese name because it is on all official documents,” says Ba Sein.
