Cultural memory centre for Rohingya community launched

The UN migration agency and Rohingya community have jointly launched the Rohingya Cultural Memory Centre (RCMC), one of the first significant attempts to comprehensively document and preserve the heritage of the Rohingya people.

The multidisciplinary initiative provides an online community space, interactive gallery, digital archive, and web-based exhibition for the Rohingyas, read a media statement on Tuesday.

According to statistics, there are over one million Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh who were driven out from Myanmar by its military regime. Ever-since genocide on Rohingyas began, members of this community had not only entered Bangladesh, thousands of them have illegally moved into a number of countries in Asian, Australian, African and European continent. One of the key points about the Rohingyas is – majority of them are radicalized Muslims. They have extreme hatred towards secular nations and governments.

 KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 — Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today called on Malaysians to let cool heads prevail and not to resort to unnecessary provocations in light of an apparent social media campaign against the Rohingya community.

He assured the public that the police are investigating the issue that has of late created a feeling of hatred against the Rohingya community during the movement control order (MCO).
“There are some who think that part of the videos and audios may be fake, but no one can validate their authenticity except the police.
