နိုင်ငံတကာတရားရုံး ICJ မှာ ဂမ်ဘီယာနိုင်ငံက မြန်မာနိုင်ငံအပေါ် စွဲဆိုထားတဲ့ လူမျိုးတုံး သတ်ဖြတ်မှုနဲ့ ပတ်သက် ပြီး နှစ်ဖက်အပြန်အလှန် လျှောက်လဲချက်ပေးဖို့အတွက် တရားရုံးက ထပ်တိုးအချိန်တွေသတ်မှတ်ခွင့်ပြု လိုက်ပါ တယ်။

အောက်တိုဘာ ၁၆ ရက်နေ့ ရက်စွဲနဲ့ ထုတ်ပြန်တဲ့ ICJ တရားရုံးရဲ့ အမိန့်ကြေညာချက်မှာ ဒုတိယအကြိမ် လျှောက် လဲ ချက်တင်နိုင်ဖို့ နှစ်နိုင်ငံလုံးကို နောက်ထပ် ခုနှစ်လစီ အချိန်ထပ်တိုး ပေးလိုက်တယ်လို့ ဖော်ပြထားပါတယ်။

It was recently reported that Myanmar had conceded that it had committed “war crimes” against its Rohingya Muslim community. This is as far as Myanmar has ever gone in admitting responsibility for the atrocities committed against its Rohingya minority. Still, to some observers, this is not good enough.

Time stands still for more than 740,000 Rohingya Muslims, who are still unable to return home two years after being driven out of northern Rakhine state into neighboring Bangladesh, fleeing widespread killings, rape, and the burning of their villages at the hands of the Myanmar military. The recently failed attempt to repatriate refugees underscores just how inadequate the conditions are for their return.

A United Nations-backed fact-finding mission has found sufficient information to warrant the investigation and prosecution of senior military officials for grave crimes, including genocide. Yet the Myanmar government continues to defy the UN Human Rights Council by denying these rights violations ever took place and refusing to investigate seriously and prosecute these crimes or cooperate with international efforts.

Myanmar Denies Entry Of UN Human Rights Expert

Myanmar has refused a U.N. human rights expert entry as she visits Thailand and Bangladesh investigating abuses being committed in the country.

Myanmar has barred Yanghee Lee, the U.N. special rapporteur to Myanmar, from their country since December 2017. Lee has said she still seeks to engage with the Myanmar government and that she remains committed to her mandate of monitoring the human rights situation in the country.

Rohingya refugees, who escaped violence in Myanmar and settled in refugee camps in neighboring Bangladesh, are vulnerable to forced labor, human trafficking, and in some case to sexual exploitation, rights groups and activists warn.
