Thailand donates $28,000 for Rohingyas

The Thai government has made a donation of 1 million baht (3,085,467.45 taka) or around $28,000 for the Rohingya refugees in Cox's Bazaar.

The assistance will enable World Food Program (WFP) to allocate food to 3,500 displaced persons for one month, the Thai embassy on Wednesday said.

S.Korea provides IOM $1.0m to support fire affected Rohingya families

South Korea has decided to provide emergency support of $1.0 million to the International Organization of Migration (IOM) to support the Rohingya community in Cox’s Bazar.

These funds will contribute to the massive humanitarian efforts required to respond to the devastating fire that broke out on March 22 in several Rohingya refugee camps, said a press statement of IOM on Sunday.

EU commits € 32mn for host communities, Rohingyas in Cox’s Bazar

The European Union (EU) has announced €32 million or Tk 304 crore in funding to contribute to the needs of Bangladeshi host communities of Cox’s Bazar and Rohingya in the camps.

The allocation came in support to the generous efforts deployed by Bangladesh by hosting around one million Rohingya.

Some € 12 million or Tk 114 crore will be dedicated to COVID-19 responses and € 20 million or Tk 190 crore will address the need of both host communities and Rohingya through an integrated approach on improved access to basic services in education, food security and nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and enhance their resilience and protection.

Hamdan bin Zayed donates AED5m to campaign to assist Rohingya refugees



ABU DHABI, 24th May 2019 (WAM) - H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region, and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, has donated AED 5 million to the campaign in solidarity with Rohingya refugees, which was launched today across the UAE, in line with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Sheikh Hamdan's donation stems from his keenness to provide assistance to the Rohingya refugees who face difficult conditions.

The campaign complements the UAE's proactive humanitarian and development efforts in helping the Rohingya refugees since the onset of the crisis in Myanmar, which forced them to flee to neighbouring Bangladesh.

Abu Dhabi: More than a million Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh are slated to benefit from the latest humanitarian campaign of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority after it launched a nationwide drive to generate donations for them in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

DOHA: UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, announced yesterday a major individual contribution of more than $35 million from Qatari businessman Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah bin Thani Al Thani for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh and displaced Yemenis.

The donation, which is the largest UNHCR has received from an individual, covers a one-year cooperation agreement and two grant agreements and is worth US$ 35,215,260.
