Dhaka asks Naypyidaw; urges conducive environment in Rakhine

Dhaka has asked Naypyidaw to stop concocting campaigns against Bangladesh and focus on creating an environment in Rakhine conducive to sustained repatriation and reintegration of the Rohingyas.

Myanmar continues to spread fabricated information, misrepresented facts, and unsubstantiated claims to unjustifiably shift the onus of the Rohingya crisis on Bangladesh, said Bangladesh foreign ministry in a statement yesterday.

'We do not have any information on this. If a refugee wanted to be repatriated, they will have to follow the process maintained by RRRC, and UNHCR'

The claim by the Myanmar Embassy in Dhaka, on the repatriation of 29 Rohingyas from Bangladesh, is nothing but propaganda, said a top official involved in managing Rohingyas in Bangladesh.

Myanmar claims Arsa is stopping Rohingyas in Cox’s Bazar from returning home; Bangladesh says Arsa doesn’t exist in Rohingya refugee camps

The Myanmar government has adopted a new propaganda front in regard to the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (Arsa) to further delay the repatriation of the Rohingyas currently sheltered in Bangladesh’s Cox’s Bazar, multiple sources have told Dhaka Tribune.

The minister said Dhaka came to know that Myanmar wants to send a fact finding mission in Bangladesh
Bangladesh is preparing a “factsheet” to negate Myanmar propaganda over the Rohingya issue to downplay the intensity and camouflage Naypyidaw role in creating and prolonging the crisis.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen made the statement to the media at his ministry office on Sunday.

The Arakan Army, which is battling the Myanmar military for autonomy in turbulent Rakhine state, has grown in both force strength and firepower since its formation in 2009 to the level that the rebel group can now launch successful offensives on police or military outposts. And its message is drawing as many young female recruits as men.
