Tripura woman arrested for cross-border trafficking of Bangladeshis, Rohingya

A joint team of security forces on Tuesday arrested a woman allegedly involved in cross-border trafficking of Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingya, from Matinagar in Sepahijala district along the Indo-Bangla international border.

Eight Rohingya women were apprehended by the police near the Vairenti police check gate along the Assam-Mizoram border.

Reports stated that the police were carrying out their routine checking of vehicles when they discovered that eight ladies were travelling without any valid documents.

Agartala: The BSF has been alerted after reports that a large number of Rohingya refugees have assembled on the other side of the border along Sabroom in South Tripura and are trying to sneak into India crossing the Fanny river.
