၁၉၈၈ ဇွန်လအတွင်း နိုင်ငံတဝန်း ဆန္ဒပြမှုများ ပေါ်ပေါက်လာခဲ့ပြီး ဇူလိုင် ၂၃ ရက်၌ ပြုလုပ်ခဲ့သည့် ဗမာ့ဆိုရှယ်လစ်လမ်းစဉ်ပါတီ(BBSP)၏ အရေးပေါ်ပါတီညီလာခံ၌ ပါတီဥက္ကဋ္ဌဦးနေဝင်းနှင့် သမ္မတဦးစန်းယုတို့သည် ရာထူးမှ အသီးသီး နုတ်ထွက်ခဲ့ကြသည်။ ယင်းနောက် သမ္မတနှင့် ပါတီဥက္ကဋ္ဌနေရာ ဆက်ခံသူအဖြစ် ဦးစိန်လွင်ကို ခန့် အပ်ခဲ့သည်။

ပဋိပက္ခနှင့် ထိခိုက်ခံစားရမှုများ ဆက်လက်ဖြစ်ပေါ်နေချိန်မှာ နိုင်ငံတော်စီမံခန့်ခွဲရေးကောင်စီ (State Administration Council) သည် တစ်နိုင်ငံလုံးအတိုင်းအတာအားဖြင့် တော်လှန်ခုံခံမှုများကို နှိမ်နှင်းရန် ‘ခွဲခြား-အုပ်ချုပ်ရေး’ (divide and rule) နည်းဗျူဟာများကို အသုံးပြုန်ရန် ကြိုးစားအားထုတ်လျက်ရှိသည်။ သို့သော်ရက္ခိုင် ပြည်တွင်း အတွေ့အကြုံများကို သုံးသက်ချက်အရ အသိုင်းအဝိုင်းများကြား ပဋိပက္ခကို ဖော်ဆောင်၍ဖြစ်စေ၊ အတိုက်အခံလှုပ်ရှားမှုများကို ပြိုကွဲစေ၍ဖြစ်စေ စစ်ကောင်စီ၏ ထိုကဲ့သို့ သွေးခွဲသက်သျှိုသော နည်းဗျူဟာများသည် အလုပ်ဖြစ်နိုင်ခြေနည်းကြောင်း ကိုနိုင်လင်းမှ ယခု ဆောင်းပါးတွင် ရှင်းပြထားပါသည်။ ယင်းအစား စစ်ကောင်စီသည် အတိတ်ကာလများမှ ကျရှုံးမှုများကို ထပ်ခါကျူးလွန်နေပြီး၊ တဖက်တွင် ရက္ခိုင်အမျိုးသားအဖွဲ့ချုပ် (United League of Arakan) မှ နယ်မြေဒေသတလွှားတွင်လည်း ဩဇာလွမ်းမိုးမှုကို ဆက်လက်တည်ဆောက် လျက်ရှိနေသည်။

မြန်မာနိုင်ငံသည် လက်ရှိအချိန်၌ နိုင်ငံရေးနှင့် စီးပွါးရေးဆိုင်ရာ အရေးပေါ်ကာလတစ်ခုတွင် ရောက်ရှိနေသည်။ ၂၀၂၁ စစ်အာဏာသိမ်းမှု (၂) နှစ်ခွဲကြာလာသည့်တိုင် ‘နိုင်ငံတော်စီမံခန့်ခွဲရေးကောင်စီ’ ဟု တရားဝင်သိထား ကြသော စစ်ကောင်စီသည် ဖက်ဒရယ်ဒီမိုကရေစီကို ထောက်ခံလိုလားသော တော်လှန်ခုခံလှုပ်ရှားမှုများဆက်လက် ဖြစ်ပေါ်၊ တိုးလာနေစဥ်မှာပင် နိုင်ငံအတွင်း ငြိမ်းချမ်းရေး နှင့် တည်ငြိမ်ရေးကို ပြန်လည် မတည်ဆောက်နိုင်သေးပေ။ အခု အခြေအနေများသည် ၁၉၈၈ စက်တင်ဘာ ယခင် စစ်အာဏာသိမ်း မှုနောက်ပိုင်းဖြစ်ပေါ်ခဲ့သော တစ်နိုင်ငံလုံးဆိုင်ရာ ကသောင်းကနင်း အခြေအနေများနှင့်လည်း လွန်စွာ ကွဲပြားလှပါသည်။

25 years ago this week, India’s army crushed an incipient Rakhine separatist force in the Andaman Islands. In western Myanmar, memories of the incident linger.

Twenty-five years ago this week, India’s government betrayed the people of Rakhine State in western Myanmar, when its armed forces smashed a nascent Rakhine revolutionary group in a remote part of the Andaman Islands. In the years since, the Indian government has never referred publicly to the incident, but it continues to resonate among the Rakhine people, who remember it as Gen. Khaing Raza’s Day, or Betrayal of India over Rakhine Revolution Day. In a 2009 book, the prominent Indian human rights lawyer Nandita Haksar described the incident as “infamous.”

CHIANG MAI – At just 43, Major General Twan Mrat Naing may be the youngest and most successful rebel commanders in Myanmar. The force he leads, the Arakan Army (AA), has grown from a handful of recruits when it was first established in April 2009 into one of the war-torn nation’s most powerful and potent ethnic armies.

AA first waged war against the Myanmar military in 2012 in northern Kachin state arm-in-arm with the Kachin Independence Army (KIA). It later fought alongside the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) in northeastern Shan state before launching an insurgency in its home state of Rakhine, also known as Arakan, where thousands have flocked to join its ranks.

The idea of a Federal Army for Myanmar is as old as the country’s struggle for democracy. The vision is a part of the larger picture of decentralization and democratization of the multiethnic nation of 54 million and was first seriously floated in 1988 as a counterweight to Tatmadaw and to rally the support of ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) during 8888 Uprising. The idea has recently received unprecedented momentum following the ousting of NLD-led civilian government on February 1, 2021. The formation of an EAO-supported People’s Defense Force (PDF) that amalgamates the Bamar youth with anti-junta ethnic rebels has sparked new optimism in this regard. Spontaneous attacks from civilian resistance fighters and other similar groups, such as Taze People’s Comrades, Kalay Civil Army and Chinland Defence Force have also contributed significantly to this growing interest.

Myanmar is still in turmoil with more than eight hundred civilian deaths and five thousand imprisoned since the military (Tatmadaw) overthrew a democratically elected government on 1 February. After the evaporation of dialogue and political solutions, the role of groups with armed forces became more prominent. The post-coup stances of Myanmar’s nearly two dozen ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) that have fought against the military regime will be a determinant in the country’s future.

KNU Denies Military’s Accusation of Training Anti-Coup Groups

The Karen National Union has denied accusations made by Burma’s military regime, sent in a letter of complaint, claiming the KNU is conducting military training for opposition groups and anti-coup protesters.

The official letter, dated May 18, 2021, sent by the State Level Military Council to the KNU’s Liaison office in Hpa-an accused the KNU of providing military training to the groups outlawed by the Military Council. The groups named in the letter are: the anti-coup shadow government, National Unity Government (NUG) and its affiliates. The letter accused the KNU of holding trainings in its Brigade 1, 6 and 7.

Ethnic minority Karen insurgents attacked a Myanmar army outpost near the Thai border on Tuesday in some of the most intense clashes since a military coup nearly three months ago threw the country into crisis.

The Karen National Union (KNU), Myanmar's oldest rebel force, said it had captured the army camp on the west bank of the Salween river, which forms the border with Thailand.

The Myanmar military later hit back against the insurgents with air strikes, the KNU and Thai authorities said.

YANGON (Reuters):Thousands of opponents of military rule in Myanmar marched in the town of Natmauk, the birthplace of revered national hero Aung San, on Thursday (March 18) in defiance of a crackdown by security forces, local media reported.

Demonstrations also took place in other towns and cities, with security forces killing three people, an activist group said. The authorities placed further restrictions on internet services, hampering protesters' ability to organise.
