4 bodies recovered after Rohingya boat capsizes off Teknaf, one BGB member missing

Four bodies, including a child, were recovered from the Bay of Bengal in Teknaf after a boat carrying Rohingyas drowned while attempting to cross into Bangladesh from Myanmar.

There was also a Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) member on the boat.
 

Several people, including the BGB member, are still missing.

At least 10 bodies washed ashore at a beach in Teknaf after a boat carrying Rohingyas from Myanmar capsized in the Bay of Bengal this (Tuesday) morning.

The victims include seven women, two men and a child, said locals.

THE Bangladeshi police has recovered six bodies of Rohingya including four children from the Naf River since Saturday (12).

On Monday (14) a Rohingya child and a woman were found dead on the riverbank at Hneela union of the upazila, said Teknaf Model police station officer-in-charge Md Hafizur Rahman.

The law enforcers suspect that the victims drowned after the boat, headed illegally for Bangladesh territory and with them on board, capsized in the river between Sunday evening and the early hours of Monday, the Dhaka Tribune reported.
