Police find bodies of two ‘Rohingyas’ with bullet wounds and yaba stash in Cox’s Bazar

Police say they have recovered the bullet-ridden bodies of two Rohingya camp residents and nearly 50,000 yaba tablets in Cox’s Bazar.

The BGB says they fired upon two suspected intruders early on Saturday morning, but adds that it cannot confirm whether anyone was killed in the shooting.

16 Rohingyas detained in Cumilla

Police detained 16 Rohingyas from Brahmanpara upazila of Cumilla district on Thursday.

The detainees are Hamida Begum, 60, Sabbir Ahmed, 30, Sabbir's wife Hasina Begum, 30, Sabbir's four children -- Jabed, 12, Saber, 10, Majid, 6 and Sadek, 2, -- Hamid Nur, 25, Hamid's wife Fatema, 23, Hamid's two sons -Faruk, 3 and Khaiyam Nur, 1 -- Nur Haba, 28, Abdur Rahim, 10, Shahida Akter, 5 and Ismail, 6.

UN inaction over Rohingya repatriation criticised

Bangladesh has raised question over the role of the United Nations in the Rohingya repatriation process at a meeting of stakeholders on Thursday.

The international body has done little to address the problems in Myanmar, complained the foreign ministry’s national taskforce on Rohingya at the meeting.

INDIA on Thursday deported a five-member Rohingya Muslim family to neighbouring Myanmar, the second such group expelled in four months during a crackdown on illegal immigrants. DAYS after India deported a Rohingya Muslim family of five lodged at an Assam prison to Myanmar, the Saudi authorities on Tuesday deported 13 Rohingyas to Bangladesh, who had travelled to the Kingdom with Bangladeshi passports around seven years back. Newspapers reported that, Riyadh may send back more Rohingyas, now kept in detention camps in Jeddah, creating more worries for Bangladesh which is already burdened with over 1.2 million Rohingya refugees.
