During a session of the Jatiya Sangsad, Chandpur-3 Representative Dr Dipu Moni told the attending session about the Rohingya who were elected into the Myanmar parliament.

Dr Dipu Moni was raising a motion at the parliament about the Rohingya refugee crisis when she detailed the political imbroglio the Rohingya have been a part of since the mid-20th century. She said there have been 17 Rohingya members of the Myanmar parliament till now, and two of them were women and one had been a minister.

Reacting to the insurgent attacks on some police outposts and an army camp on August 25, the Myanmar security forces have unleashed a "war" of sorts against the Rohingya—an ethnic minority group living for centuries in the Rakhine state of Myanmar—burning down their villages, killing their men and raping their women, committing what can be termed as "crimes against humanity" that has resulted in nearly 500 dead and nearly 200,000 taking shelter in Bangladesh, which has hosted Rohingya refugees for more than three decades in varying numbers depending on the level of oppression across the border.

Who is burning down Rohingya villages?

The 300,000 people who have fled Rakhine state to Bangladesh over the past two weeks all come from the northern districts of Maungdaw, Buthidaung and Rathedaung, the last areas of Myanmar with sizeable Rohingya populations not confined to displacement camps.

These districts are hard to reach. Roads are poor, and the government requires permits to go there, which journalists rarely get.

ဆွေးနွေးပွဲ တက်ရောက်လာသူ ဦးစစ်အေးက “အခု အချိန်မှာ နိုင်ငံတကာနဲ့ ပတ်ဝန်းကျင် ဘယ်လောက်အထိ ဘယ်လိုဖိအား ရှိနေတယ်။ ဒီပြဿနာကို နိုင်ငံရေးအရ ကြီးထွားလာအောင် လုပ်နေတဲ့ အနေအထားမျိုး။နောက် တစ်ခါ အစ္စလာမ္မစ် ကွန်မြူနတီက ဒီဟာကို အမြတ်ထုတ်ပြီးတော့ ပြဿနာ ပိုကြီးထွားလာအောင် ဒီလိုပုံစံမျိုးတွေ လှုံ့ဆော်ပြီးတော့ ရပ်တည်နေတယ်ဆိုတာ လေ့လာတွေ့ရှိရပါတယ်။ ဒါ့အပြင် မြန်မာနိုင်ငံအနေနဲ့ နိုင်ငံ တကာက အဖြစ်မှန်သိအောင် နိုင်ငံတကာ မီဒီယာကို ထိုးဖောက်ဖို့ အဖြစ်မှန်တွေကို သေသေချာချာပြောပြဖို့ လိုပါမယ်။ သံတမန်နည်းအရလည်း ဆက်သွယ် ဆောင်ရွက်ဖို့လိုမယ်။ ဒေသတွင်းရော၊ တစ်ကမ္ဘာလုံးရော အဖြစ်မှန်ကိုသိအောင် ပူးပေါင်းဆောင်ရွက်ကြဖို့ လိုမယ်” ဟု သတင်းထောက်များအား ပြောကြားသည်

စစ်တွေတွင် လုပ်ကိုင်နေသူ ဦးကျော်ဇေယျက “ကျွန်တော့်လုပ်ငန်းက စစ်တွေမှာ ရှိပါတယ်။ ကျွန်တော်လည်း ရခိုင်အရေးနဲ့ ပတ်သက်ပြီး စိတ်ဝင်စားတဲ့အတွက် ဒီပွဲကို လာတက်တာပါ။ ဆွေးနွေးနေတဲ့ အပေါ်မှာတော့ ကျေ နပ်အားရမှု ရှိပါတယ်။ မြဝတီ မီဒီယာကနေ ဦးဆောင်ပြီးကျင်းပတဲ့ ပွဲဖြစ်လို့ လုံခြုံရေးအမြင်နဲ့ ပိုပြီးဆွေးနွေးသွားတာ တွေ့ရပါတယ်။ ကျွန်တော့်အမြင်ကတော့ လုံခြုံရေးအမြင်ရော၊ နိုင်ငံရေးအမြင်ရော ဆွေးနွေးစေချင်တာပေါ့။ ရခိုင်ပြည်နယ်မှာ လက်ရှိ ဖြစ်နေတာနဲ့ ဆွေးနွေးတာနဲ့ဆိုရင် လိုအပ်ချက်လေးတွေ ရှိနေပါတယ်။ တ ကယ် ဒုက္ခရောက်နေတဲ့ ဒုက္ခသည်တွေ အများကြီးပဲ ရှိပါတယ်။ အဲဒီ အနေအထားတွေ ထည့်သွင်းဆွေးနွေးမယ်ဆိုရင် ပိုပြီးတော့ကောင်းမယ်လို့ ထင်ပါတယ်။ လုံခြုံရေးနဲ့ပတ်သက်လို့ ဘူးသီးတောင်၊ မောင်တောအနေနဲ့ မဟုတ်ဘဲ ရခိုင်ပြည်နယ် တစ်ခုလုံး အနေနဲ့ ကြည့်သင့်ပါတယ်။ လုံခြုံရေးအတွက် ဆိုရင်တော့ တပ်မတော်ရဲ့ အင်အားကို တိုးချဲ့ရမယ်။ ခေတ်မီစစ်လက်နက် ကိရိယာတွေ သုံးသင့်တယ်လို့ မြင်ပါတယ်။ နောက်ပြီးတော့ ရဲတပ်ဖွဲ့ကသုံးနေတဲ့ လက်နက်တွေကို ပံ့ပိုးပေးသင့်တယ်လို့ မြင်ပါတယ်။ ဘာလို့လဲဆိုတော့ ပြည်သူ့ရဲတွေ သုံးနေတဲ့ လက်နက်တွေက လိုအပ်ချက်တွေ ရှိနေလို့ပါ။ အဆင့်မြှင့်ပေးသင့်တယ်လို့ မြင်ပါတယ်” ဟု သတင်း ထောက်များအား ပြောကြားသည်။

ရန်ကုန်မြို့တွင် စက်တင်ဘာ ၇ ရက်က “ရခိုင်ပြည်နယ်အရေး ဆွေးနွေးမှုမှ အဖြေရှာ” ခေါင်းစဉ်ဖြင့် ဆွေးနွေးပွဲစကားဝိုင်း ပြုလုပ်ခဲ့ကြောင်း သိရသည်။

ၾသဂုတ္လ ၂၅ ရက္ေန႔တြင္ ရိုဟင္ဂ်ာ ကယ္တင္ေရးတပ္မေတာ္ (ARSA) က ရခိုင္ျပည္နယ္မွ ရဲစခန္း ၃၀ ခန႔္ႏွင့္ တပ္မ ေတာ္ စခန္းတခုကို တိုက္ခိုက္ခဲ့ျခင္းေၾကာင့္ ျမန္မာ့တပ္မေတာ္၏ နယ္ေျမရွင္းလင္းေရး စစ္ ဆင္ေရးမ်ား ေပၚေပါက္လာေစ ခဲ့သည္။ အသစ္ျပန္ျဖစ္လာေသာ ပဋိပကၡေၾကာင့္ ေထာင္ႏွင့္ ခ်ီေသာ မြတ္ဆလင္မ်ား ႏွင့္ ရခိုင္ ဗုဒၶဘာသာဝင္ မ်ား သူတို႔၏ ေနအိမ္မ်ားကို စြန႔္၍ ေဒသတြင္းမွ ယာယီစခန္း မ်ား သို႔ သို႔မဟုတ္ နယ္စပ္ကိုေက်ာ္ျဖတ္၍ ဘဂၤလားေဒ့ရွ္ နိုင္ငံ သို႔ ထြက္ေျပးခဲ့ၾကရသည္။
