Twenty two Rohingya organisations in a statement on Tuesday denounced the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army for the latter’s recent activities and criminal associations along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border.
In the statement, they branded the ARSA, also known as Harakah Al Yakeen, as a criminal group.
They also appealed to the Bangladesh government and to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to work together to respond promptly when refugees report imminent threats, to provide immediate and effective protection to those in danger, and to ensure effective protection for those who report incidents.
In the statement, they branded the ARSA, also known as Harakah Al Yakeen, as a criminal group.

Arakan Rohingya National Organisation, Australian Burmese Rohingya Organisation, British Rohingya Community in UK, European Rohingya Council, Free Rohingya Coalition and Rohingya Women Development Network were among the signatories.
The Rohingya community does not accept the ARSA as a group that represents the ideals and interests of the Rohingya community in or outside of Myanmar, the statement read.
Thus, the group must not claim it represents the interests of Rohingyas, the statement read, adding, that he ARSA is a criminal group targeting vulnerable Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh and committing heinous cross-border crimes including but not limited to: murder, extortion, forcible abductions, tortures, sexual violence and drug trafficking, among others.
It said these criminal activities escalated dramatically in the recent months.
On September 29, a prominent Rohingya leader Mohib Ullah was assassinated reportedly by the ARSA followed by the murder of seven more Rohingya refugees in mid-October, it stated.
The ARSA, however, dismissed the allegation.
