International courts' decisions must reflect Rohingya genocide survivors’ concerns, priorities and voices 

 Coordinated or coincidental, Rohingya activists and international actors justice-seekers this week made historic moves to activate available global justice mechanisms to hold Myanmar accountable for its international state crimes, specifically against Rohingya people.

The three specific mechanisms of criminal accountability are the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court and the principle of Universal Jurisdictions in Argentina, where the national judiciary recognizes and honors the principle.

Aung San Suu Kyi could not escape arrest if convicted in ICC: Shahriar

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam has said that the top 20 leaders of Myanmar, including Aung San Suu Kyi, could not escape arrest if ICC delivers verdict convicting them.

He came up with the disclosure while speaking at a round table titled ‘Necessity of Rohingya repatriation considering regional and global perspective’ at National Press Club in the capital on Monday. He said, “It is not a matter whether Myanmar is a member of the International Criminal Court (ICC) or International Court of Justice (ICJ); if the verdict over Rohingya genocide case goes against the top 20 leaders, including Suu Kyi, all countries will be forced to accept the verdict. So, even if they flee to another country, they must be arrested.”

He said that once the ICC delivers verdict over Rohingya assassination, there will be pressure on every country including Myanmar to solve the crisis. Then, the ruling leaders of Myanmar have no way to escape.”

State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam on Monday said the Myanmar government is not out of the jurisdiction of International Court of Justice (ICJ) and International Criminal Court (ICC).

More than 7,00,000 mainly-Muslim Rohingyas were forced to flee to Bangladesh after Myanmar launched a brutal offensive targeting the ethnic minority in late August 2017. Nay Pyi Taw has been accused of carrying out human rights abuse during what it described as counterinsurgency operations.

Gambia, on behalf of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, filed a case at the ICJ accusing Myanmar of genocide in its treatment of the Rohingyas.

• Full-scale investigation will exert ‘real pressure’ on Myanmar over repatriation, experts say

DHAKA: Bangladeshi experts on Saturday welcomed the International Criminal Court’s decision to launch a full-scale investigation into Myanmar’s alleged mass persecution of the Rohingya.
Following a request from the ICC’s chief prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, earlier this year, the court on Thursday approved an inquiry into alleged atrocities carried out by Myanmar since 2016, which the UN has previously referred to as a “textbook example of ethnic cleansing.”

On 14 November 2019, Pre-Trial Chamber III of the International Criminal Court ("ICC" or the "Court") authorised the Prosecutor to proceed with an investigation for the alleged crimes within the ICC's jurisdiction in the Situation in the People's Republic of Bangladesh/Republic of the Union of Myanmar ("the situation in Bangladesh/Myanmar").

ICC Pre-Trial Chamber III is composed of Judge Olga Herrera Carbuccia, Presiding, Judge Robert Fremr, and Judge Geoffrey Henderson.

ရိုဟင္ဂ်ာအေရးနဲ႔ပတ္သက္လို႔ ဒီသီတင္းပတ္ထဲမွာ ျမန္မာအစိုးရအတြက္အထူးျခားဆုံး ျဖစ္ရပ္ႏွစ္ခု ေပၚ ထြက္လာခဲ့ပါတယ္။

တခုကေတာ့ အစၥလာမ္မစ္နိုင္ငံမ်ား ပူးေပါင္းေဆာင္ရြက္ေရးအဖြဲ႕ (OIC) က သူ႔အဖြဲ႕ဝင္ ဂမ္ဘီယာနိုင္ငံကို ကိုယ္စားလွယ္အျဖစ္ေရြးၿပီး ကုလသမဂၢတရား႐ုံး ICJ မွာ နိုဝင္ဘာလ (၁၁) ရက္ေန႔က အမႈဖြင့္တဲ့ကိစၥနဲ႔၊ နိုင္ငံေတာ္အတိုင္ပင္ခံပုဂၢိဳလ္ ေဒၚေအာင္ဆန္းစုၾကည္ အပါအဝင္၊ တပ္မေတာ္နဲ႔ အစိုးရထိပ္ပိုင္း ေခါင္း ေဆာင္ေဟာင္း၊ ေခါင္းေဆာင္သစ္ေတြကို အာဂ်င္တီးနားနိုင္ငံမွာ နိုဝင္ဘာလ (၁၃) ရက္ေန႔က တရားစြဲတဲ့ ကိစၥပါ။

  ပြီးခဲ့တဲ့ သီတင်းပတ်စောပိုင်းက ကုလသမဂ္ဂ အထွေထွေညီလာခံကို တင်သွင်းတဲ့ ၂၀၁၉ ခုနှစ် ICC နိုင်ငံတကာရာဇဝတ်ခုံရုံး အစီရင်ခံစာမှာ ရိုဟင်ဂျာတွေကို မြန်မာနိုင်ငံကနေ ဘင်္ဂလားဒေ့ရှ်ဘက် အတင်းအကျပ် မောင်းထုတ်ခဲ့တယ်ဆိုတဲ့ စွဲချက်ကို ICC ခုံရုံးက လက်ခံ စိစစ်နေပြီဖြစ်ကြောင်း ထည့်သွင်း ဖော်ပြထားပါတယ်။ အခုလို ICC ခုံရုံးကနေ မြန်မာအပေါ် တရားစီရင်ပိုင်ခွင့် အလားအလာကို ပထမဆုံးအကြိမ် ထည့်သွင်းဖော်ပြထားတဲ့ ကုလသမဂ္ဂ အစီရင်ခံစာကို မြန်မာအစိုးရဘက်က လက်မခံ၊ ငြင်းပယ်ထားကြောင်း ကုလသမဂ္ဂဆိုင်ရာ မြန်မာ သံအမတ်ကြီးက ဗွီအိုအေကို ပြောပါတယ်။ အပြည့်အစုံကို မအင်ကြင်းနိုင်က တင်ပြပေးထားပါတယ်။
