A case in Argentina, under the principle of universal jurisdiction, seeks to hold Myanmar’s leaders accountable for the atrocities committed against the Rohingya people. 

On June 7, Rohingya witnesses testified before an Argentine court about the atrocities committed by the Tatmadaw, the Myanmar Armed Forces, against civilians during the so-called clearance operation in 2017. This is a small but significant step in the process of ensuring justice for the long-persecuted Rohingya people.

The Rohingya were arbitrarily deprived of their citizenship by the Myanmar government in 1982, and currently, they are the world’s largest group of stateless people. They have been described by the United Nations as one of the most persecuted and most discriminated against minority groups in the world. The Rohingya have been subjected to repeated bouts of ethnic cleansing by the Myanmar government – in 1978, 1991–1992, 2012, and 2015. Hundreds of thousands of Rohingya were forced to flee to Bangladesh in each of these instances.

We want to take you back to 2017. Ayesha Begum was twenty years old and the mother of a one-year-old boy at the time. She was having dinner with her sisters-in-law when Myanmar army forces stormed into their home and pushed the women into a room. For the next few hours, Ayesha and her sisters were raped in turns by twelve soldiers. Later when the opportunity arose, they walked for eight days and fled to neighbouring Bangladesh. Two of Ayesha’s sisters-in-law did not survive the tempestuous journey.

Hissein Brahim Taha says organization working for safe, dignified repatriation of Rohingya to their home country

The chief of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Monday visited the Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh's southern border district of Cox's Bazar to assess the living conditions of the persecuted community, according to official and local sources.

The secretary general of the world's biggest Islamic platform, Hissein Brahim Taha, exchanged views with the Rohingya refugees at Ukhia camp in Cox's Bazar, saying the organization is always active in protecting the interests of the persecuted Rohingya.

ရိုဟင်ဂျာတွေအပေါ် လူမျိုးတုံးသတ်ဖြတ်မှု စွပ်စွဲချက်နဲ့ ပတ်သက်ပြီး ICJ နိုင်ငံတကာ တရားရုံးကို အထောက် အထားတွေတင်ပြ လျှောက်လဲ ချက်ပေးရမယ့်ရက်ကို တရားရုံးက ၁ လပဲ အချိန်တိုးပေးလိုက်ပါတယ်။ မြန်မာ ဘက်က ပြန်လည်ချေပဖို့ ပြင်ဆင်စရာတွေရှိသေးတာကြောင့် အချိန်တိုးတောင်းခဲ့တာဖြစ်တယ်လို့ စစ်ကောင်စီ ပြောခွင့်ရ ဗိုလ်ချုပ်ဇော်မင်းထွန်းက ဗွီအိုအေမြန်မာပိုင်းကို ပြောပါတယ်။

ဂမ်ဘီယာနိုင်ငံ၏ စွဲဆိုချက်များကို အင်္ဂလိပ်မှ မြန်မာဘာသာသို့ ဘာသာပြန်ဆိုရန် အချိန်မလုံလောက်ဟု အကြောင်းပြကာ စစ်ကောင်စီက အချိန် ၁၀ လ တိုးတောင်းသော်လည်း ပယ်ချခံရသည်။

၂၀၂၂ ခုနှစ် ဖေဖော်ဝါရီလအတွင်းက စစ်ကောင်စီကိုယ်စား စစ်တပ်အရာရှိဟောင်း ဦးကိုကိုလှိုင်ဦးဆောင်၍ ICJ တရားရုံး၌ သွားရောက်ဖြေရှင်းခဲ့စဉ်။ 

ရိုဟင်ဂျာများအပေါ် လူမျိုးသုဉ်းသတ်ဖြတ်မှုဖြင့် အပြည်ပြည်ဆိုင်ရာတရားရုံး (ICJ) တွင် အမှုရင်ဆိုင်နေရသည့် စစ်ကောင်စီက စွပ်စွဲချက်များ ဖြေရှင်းရေး အချိန် ၁၀ လ တိုးတောင်းခဲ့သော်လည်း ပယ်ချခံလိုက်ရသည်။

ရိုဟင်ဂျာကိစ္စနှင့် ပတ်သက်၍ ၂၀၁၉ ခုနှစ် နိုဝင်ဘာလတွင် ဂမ်ဘီယာနိုင်ငံ၏ တရားစွဲဆိုခြင်းခံရကာ အမျိုးသား ဒီမိုကရေစီအဖွဲ့ချုပ်ပါတီ (NLD) အစိုးရလက်ထက်တွင် ဒေါ်အောင်ဆန်းစုကြည်ကိုယ်တိုင် ICJ တရားရုံး၌ သွား ရောက်ဖြေရှင်းခဲ့သည်။ အာဏာသိမ်း စစ်ကောင်စီလက်ထက်တွင် စစ်တပ်အရာရှိဟောင်း ဦးကိုကိုလှိုင်ဦးဆောင် ၍ ပြီးခဲ့သည့်နှစ် ဖေဖော်ဝါရီလအတွင်း တစ်ကြိမ်ဖြေရှင်းပြီး ဖြစ်သည်။
