Immigration busts Rohingya smuggling ring

PUTRAJAYA: The Immigration Department busted a Rohingya migrant smuggling syndicate in a special operation around Kota Baru, Kelantan.

Immigration director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh said the operation on Sunday led to the arrest of 10 people, including Ali, a Rohingya man suspected to be the syndicate’s mastermind, as well as two alleged “tekong darat” (ground coordinators).

RAB Thwarts ARSA Plot and Uncovers Looming Crisis in Rohingya Camps

In the heart of Ukhiya camp No. 20, a clandestine operation unfolded on February 14, 2024. The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) of the Bangladesh police apprehended three high-ranking members of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA). Among them was Abul Hashim, the second-in-command, and a bodyguard of ARSA chief Ataullah Jununi. Foreign-made firearms and cartridges were discovered in the camp, hinting at a sinister plot.
