According to reports by Dhaka Tribune and other news media, at least 109 Rohingya refugees have been detained from January this year from across the country, in locations far away from their camps in Cox’s Bazar.

Myanmar and Bangladesh will cooperate to combat narcotics and terrorists along their border, according to a joint statement issued after the sixth Myanmar-Bangladesh border guard forces meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday.

“Matters of mutual benefit were discussed at the meeting, and both sides agreed to cooperate in those sectors,” said police Brigadier General Myo Than, who led the Myanmar delegation at the meeting a day earlier.

DHAKA - Bangladesh on Sunday deployed heavily armed border guards to an island near its southern border with Myanmar for the first time in 20 years, officials said.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) distributed images showing dozens of troops carrying assault rifles disembarking at Saint Martin’s island, a small island in the Bay of Bengal that has caused diplomatic tensions between the neighbours.

DHAKA, Bangladesh: Bangladesh’s border guard on Wednesday stopped 27 Rohingya refugees, including women and children, from trying to get to Malaysia via sea route, local media reported.

According to daily Prothom Alo, Lt. Col. Sarkar Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman, a border guard official in the region, told media the refugees were found in two different places.

The Border Guards Bangladesh has sent back a Myanmar soldier who was arrested over trespassing on the border with Lemuchhari in Bandarban’s Naikhongchhari.

The army soldier was returned to the BGP, the border security force in Myanmar, following a flag meeting at Ghundhum border at around 11:00 am on Sunday, said Lt Col Asaduzzaman, chief of BGB-11 battalion.

A Rohingya man, who had been detained as a drug suspect, has been killed during an alleged gun battle involving the Border Guards Bangladesh in Cox’s Bazar.


The deceased Zafar Alam lived in Noyapara Muchni Rohingya refugee camp at Heela Union, said Lt Col Md Asadud-Zaman Chowdhury, head of Teknaf-2 BGB Battalion, on Wednesday.

The incident of gunfight took place at No. 5 Sluice Gate in Sabrang, he said.

BSF Hands Over 31 Rohingyas to Tripura Police Ending Standoff With Bangladesh.

The Rohingya Muslims were stuck in no-man's land, beyond the barbed wire fence along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura since last Friday.

New Delhi: The Border Security Force on Tuesday handed over the 31 Rohingya Muslims, who were stranded on the India-Bangladesh border for three days, to the Tripura police, ending a standoff with its counterpart, the BGB, on the issue, officials said.



They said the border guarding force signed papers and handed over the 31 Rohingyas to the staff of the Amtoli police station in West Tripura district police at 11 am.

More Rohingyas are waiting to enter Bangladesh through Brahmanbaria’s Kasba border from India amid fears of deportation to Myanmar.


“As many as 31 Rohingya women, men and children have gathered on the border,” Major Md Shafiq of the Border Guards Bangladesh told reporters.

The BGB officer said a decision would be taken after a flag meeting with India’s border guards.

Police find bodies of two ‘Rohingyas’ with bullet wounds and yaba stash in Cox’s Bazar

Police say they have recovered the bullet-ridden bodies of two Rohingya camp residents and nearly 50,000 yaba tablets in Cox’s Bazar.

The BGB says they fired upon two suspected intruders early on Saturday morning, but adds that it cannot confirm whether anyone was killed in the shooting.

Yangon. Myanmar's state media on Saturday (19/11) denied Bangladesh border guards' accounts of Rohingya Muslims fleeing conflict at home by trying to cross into the northern neighbor. 

A commanding officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) said on Friday his staff provided food and medicines to 82 people, including women and children, attempting to leave Myanmar but turned them back from the frontier. Two boats with 86 people were pushed back on Tuesday.
