GENEVA (27 August 2018) – Myanmar’s top military generals, including Commander-in-Chief Senior-General Min Aung Hlaing, must be investigated and prosecuted for genocide in the north of Rakhine State, as well as for crimes against humanity and war crimes in Rakhine, Kachin and Shan States, a report by the UN Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Myanmar* today urged.

ঠিক এক বছর আগে সন্ত্রাসী সংগঠন আরসার হামলাকে সামনে এনে রাখাইন থেকে রোহিঙ্গাদের নিশ্চিহ্ন করার অভিযানে নেমেছিল মিয়ানমার সেনাবাহিনী। মাত্র তিন সপ্তাহের মধ্যে জীবন বাঁচাতে মরিয়া সোয়া চার লাখ রোহিঙ্গা বাংলাদেশে আশ্রয় নেয়। মিয়ানমার সেনাবাহিনী ২৫ আগস্টের রাত থেকে রোহিঙ্গাদের ওপর যে নারকীয় নৃশংসতা শুরু করেছিল, পুরো বিশ্বকে বুড়ো আঙুল দেখিয়ে তা চালিয়ে গেছে মাসের পর মাস। এর ফলে গত এক বছরে সাত লাখের বেশি রোহিঙ্গার ঠাঁই হয়েছে বাংলাদেশে।
