The day dawned bright and clear as a 36-member delegation from Myanmar arrived at Teknaf, stepping off of the boat and into the fray of repatriation discussions. Their brief stop at the Teknaf-Myanmar Transit Jetty Canteen served as little more than a stage for orchestrated camaraderie, captured in photographs with the Bangladesh Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commission (RRRC) officials and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel, before they boarded buses emblazoned with the insignia of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency.

DHAKA: Bangladesh on Thursday welcomed a consensus on a UN resolution related to the repatriation to Myanmar of the 1.2 million Rohingya refugees it has sheltered for the past six years.

Hundreds of thousands of Rohingya Muslim refugees who fled a military crackdown in Myanmar in 2017 have sought shelter in neighboring Bangladesh.

THE HAGUE, Netherlands -- Five European countries and Canada are seeking to join a case brought by Gambia at the United Nations' highest court that accuses Myanmar of committing genocide against its Rohingya minority.

The International Court of Justice said Thursday that Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK had joined with Canada in filing a “declaration of intervention in the case.” The Maldives filed a separate declaration.

In a historic move, the third committee of the United Nations General Assembly adopted the annual resolution on the situation of human rights of Rohingya Muslims and other minorities in Myanmar by consensus on Wednesday.

Jointly tabled by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the European Union (EU), the resolution was co-sponsored by 114 countries, marking the highest level of international support since 2017.

JAKARTA, Nov 16 (Reuters) - Around 200 Rohingya reached the shores of Indonesia's Aceh province on Thursday, the head of the provincial fishing community said, the third boat to arrive in as many days and taking total arrivals over this period to about 600.

Due to the deteriorating humanitarian situation, the EU has released €10.5 million in humanitarian aid to address the needs of people in Myanmar and of Rohingya refugees and their host communities living in Bangladesh.

Out of this new funding, 7 million is allocated for Myanmar, and the remaining 3.5 million for Bangladesh.

Perceiving the threat of illegal Bangladeshi migrants for decades, the people of Assam (also India) have come to realise another important matter of concern and that is from the inherent influx of Rohingya people. Currently taking shelter in south Bangladesh after fleeing from Myanmar six years back, the Muslim Rohingyas are leaving their camps to various countries namely Indonesia, Malaysia and India. On many occasions, the traffickers have taken advantage of the situation to send those stateless people through West Bengal and Tripura, which have a proximity of Bengali language.
