 ဘင်္ဂလားဒေ့ရှ်နိုင်ငံဘက်ကို ထွက်ပြေးသွားကြတဲ့ ရိုဟင်ဂျာဒုက္ခသည်တွေ နေရပ်ပြန်နိုင်ဖို့အတွက် မြန်မာနိုင်ငံဘက်က အခြေအနေတွေက အဆင်သင့်မဖြစ်သေးဘူးလို့ ကုလသမဂ္ဂက ပြောလိုက်ပါတယ်။ အခု သီ တင်းပတ်ကစပြီး ဒုက္ခသည်တွေကို မြန်မာဘက်က လက်ခံဖို့ လုပ်ဆောင်ခဲ့ပေမယ့်လည်း၊ ဒုက္ခသည် တွေ တစ်ယောက်မှ ပြန်လာခြင်းမရှိတဲ့နောက် ကုလသမဂ္ဂဘက်က အဲဒီလို ပြောလိုက်တာ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ဒုက္ခ သည်တွေကတော့ သူတို့ရဲ့ အခွင့်အရေးတွေ အပြည့်အ၀ မရမချင်း မြန်မာနိုင်ငံကို မပြန်ဘူးလို့ ပြော ပါ တယ်။ ရိုက်တာသတင်းဌာနရဲ့ ဆောင်း ပါးကို အခြေခံပြီး ကိုရန်နိုင်က ပြောပြပေးမှာဖြစ်ပါတယ်

 TEKNAF, BANGLADESH - Rohingya refugees living in camps in Bangladesh said Wednesday that they did not want to return to their homes in Myanmar, raising doubts about a fresh attempt to repatriate the stateless, mainly Muslim minority.

On Thursday, Bangladesh and Myanmar were hoping to begin repatriating a few of the hundreds of thousands of Rohingya refugees who fled a military crackdown two years ago, after a previous attempt in November failed.

TEKNAF — A fresh push to repatriate Rohingya refugees to Myanmar fall flat on Thursday, with no one turning up to hop on five buses and 10 trucks laid on by Bangladesh.

Members of the Muslim minority, 740,000 of whom fled a military offensive in 2017, are refusing to return without guarantees for their safety and a promise that they will at last be given citizenship by Myanmar.

Plans to begin repatriating the thousands of Rohingya Muslims who fled ethnic cleansing in Rahkine state in 2017 look likely to fail once again, with the refugees refusing to go back to Myanmar voluntarily.

Over 3,000 Rohingya were placed on a list of refugees and approved for repatriation as part of a fresh attempt by the governments of Bangladesh and Myanmar to start sending back some of the more than one million refugees living in squalid camps in Cox’s Bazar.

Fatima is acutely aware of the importance of school. The 13-year-old fled Myanmar two years ago with nothing. She now lives in the world’s biggest refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar with her parents, two sisters and grandfather. She has faced difficulties most children her age never will. She wants to be a teacher, but not just any teacher. She wants to teach girls because when girls are educated, they teach others.

Scholar recognized for his substantial impact in the study of genocide, mass violence

The International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) has awarded eminent academic, Dr Azeem Ibrahim, with the 2019 Engaged Scholar Prize.

Glasgow born Ibrahim, who is also a Dhaka Tribune columnist, received the global scholar prize for his "exemplary vision and influence" in the study of human rights violations and mass violence cases.
