2 Rohingyas killed in clash over establishing supremacy

The deceased has been identified as Imam Sharif, 30, and Shamsul Alam, 28

Two Rohingyas were killed and 10 others of the community were injured in sporadic clashes at Kutupalong Rohingya camp in the early hours of Sunday in Cox's Bazar's.


The deceased has been identified as Imam Sharif, 30, and Shamsul Alam, 28.

The incident took place between block D and block E of the Kutupalong camp in Ukhiya upazila over establishing supremacy.

Inspector Yasin Faruk of the Armed Police Battalion, on duty at the Rohingya camp, said a group from the registered Rohingya camps were in disputes over establishing supremacy with a group from the unregistered camps.

"In this continuity, the clashes took place in the early hours of Sunday. Previously on September 30, a similar incident had taken place, in which 15 people were injured.

Ukhiya police station Officer-in-Charge Gazi Salauddin said: "Additional troops were deployed in the spot. Currently the situation is under control. The bodies were sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Legal actions are being taken in this regard."
