Police recover 2 Rohingya bodies from separate places in Teknaf

Police have recovered the bodies of two Rohingyas from separate places in Teknaf.

The bodies were recovered between Sunday night and Monday morning. One of them, Nurul Kabir, 45, has been identified, but the other's identity is yet to be disclosed.

Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Teknaf police station, Pradip Kumar Das, said: "After being informed by locals, police went to the Rohingya camp in Nayapara of Leda union in Hinla, and recovered Nurul Kabir's body from between B and E blocks."

The body bore signs of injuries to the face, the OC said. Police have confirmed he was a drug abuser.

Meanwhile, in another incident, police recovered the headless corpse of a man, from the Saikat area in the north of St Martin's Island in Teknaf, around 9am on Monday. He is yet to be identified.

The man was wearing a t-shirt and pants, and his body had started to decompose. It is being suspected the body is that of a Rohingya man's, and came floating down the Bay of Bengal from Myanmar.

Both bodies have been sent to Cox's Bazar for autopsy.
