News that some people fled to Bangladesh scrutinized

Myanmar Border Guard Police Force asked 2nd BGB Battalion Commander Lt-Col Arbu Waihar Zarhiy and 34th BGB 2IC Mohamad Arhul Nile through an interpreter about 200 people who fled to Bangladesh across Naf River and were arrested by Bangladesh border guard force and sent back to Myanmar. They replied that it had not happened actually on the ground, although they had heard about this information.



According to on the ground investigation, households living in Myawtaung and Dargyizar villages and nearby villages such as Yay Twin Kyun, Pwint Phyu Chaung, Ushay Kya and Ngakhuya villages fled to Bangladesh in a group via the conjunction of Yay Khet Chaung Gwa due to the current situation North-West of Maungtaw, the Border Guard Troop from Bangladesh sent them back to Myanmar and there is information that about 200 displaced people who may be in refugee camps in Bangladesh.

Reuters News Agency reported on 16th November that Myanmar Army killed about 72 people who tried to flee to Bangladesh. Regarding those incidents, after asking theTatmadaw and Border Guard Troops in those regions, it is known that the information is not absolutely true and the combined team didn’t conduct operations on the border area and they are only conducting area clearance operation in the inner part.
