A Rohingya teen was arrested in connection with a gunfight between some suspected robbers and the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) at Nayapara Rohingya camp in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar.
The detainee is Rafiq alias Abbua, 18.

The incident took place at Nayapara Rohingya camp in Teknaf's Hnila union in the early hours of Sunday. The detainee is a resident of the same camp. He is an active member of the “Dakat Kamal” group in the camp.
APBn-16 chief Additional DIG Mohammad Hasan Bari Noor said: "The APBn conducted an operation in the area after receiving information that the bandits were planning to carry out sabotage in a nearby hilly area. Sensing the presence of police, the robbers opened fire. The robbers tried to escape when police also fired back in self-defence.”
Abbua tried to escape but was eventually caught and detained, he added.
He also said a gun was seized from Abbua. Preparations are underway to turn him over to the local police station and initiate a case against him.
