Armed Police Battalion spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police Faruq Ahmed confirmed the matter.
Syed was not the first to be killed in such a manner, he said, adding that the APBn was trying to figure out the reason behind the killings.
The special unit of the police had launched an operation to nab those involved in the murders, the police officer said.
Saiful Islam, a resident of the camp, blamed the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (Arsa) for the murder of Syed.
Syed had spoken out against the wrongdoings of Arsa, Saiful added.
Earlier, on Saturday, masked men hacked to death two Rohingya leaders at Tajnimarkhola camp No 13.
The APBn on Tuesday made four arrests in this connection.
