New Delhi : After communal clashes broke out in Delhi ’s Jahangirpuri on Saturday evening, the BJP has pinned the blame on illegal immigrants.

Calling the clashes during a Hanuman Jayanti procession in northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri a “conspiracy”, Delhi BJP leaders have demanded a probe into the role of “illegal immigrants” in the incident.

Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta and party MP Manoj Tiwari said the attack on the procession was “not a spontaneous incident, but a conspiracy”.

‘Why AAP is providing water and electricity to Rohingyas and Bangladeshis?’

The Delhi BJP president has also questioned how the settlement of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis living illegally in Delhi were provided water and electricity connections.

In a video message, Gupta said he wants to ask Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal why he is providing water and electricity to Rohingyas and Bangladeshis living illegally in the city.

North East Delhi BJP MP Manoj Tiwari in a tweet called illegal migrants a big threat and need to be investigated as they are spoiling the harmony of our nation.

“People who are protecting and helping them settle here are a bigger threat,” he tweeted.

‘Illegal immigrants should be immediately expelled’

Former AAP minister and BJP leader Kapil Mishra said the stone pelting on the procession was a “terrorist attack” and demanded immediate expulsion of illegal immigrants from India.

Kapil Mishra said papers of all illegal immigrants should be checked and they should be immediately expelled and alleged that settlements of Bangladeshi trespassers were now involved in attacks.

Clashes broke out between two communities during the Hanuman Jayanti procession in Jahangirpuri on Saturday, leaving many police personnel injured.

Earlier this month, the Supreme Court agreed to list a plea seeking the detection and deportation of illegal Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators.

The petitioner said that keeping in view the vote bank politics, many states like Delhi, Assam, West Bengal, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra ignored the presence of illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators in those states from time to time.

He also said that there is a network of travel agents, government employees and other such people, who directly/indirectly provide PAN Card, Aadhar Cards, Ration Cards, Passport and Voter Cards to illegal immigrants and infiltrators and take stern action against them.
NIA busts human trafficking racket helping Rohingya Muslims enter India
In March, The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested six persons and busted a human trafficking racket that was helping Rohingya Muslims enter India and settle down on the basis of forged documents.

The gang was active and operating in border areas of Assam, West Bengal, Meghalaya and other parts of the country.

The NIA also conducted searches at multiple locations in Assam, Meghalaya and Karnataka.

Delhi Police officer Meda Lal who was shot at by Jahangirpuri rioters said that rioters were raising slogans and their dialect was similar to the one used in Bangladesh.

In Jahangirpuri, a large number of Bangladeshis live in C-block where the violence took place. The area is already sensitive.

As per the local residents, C-block and H-2 slums have the largest Bangladeshi population.

Who are the Rohingya people?

The Rohingya people are a stateless ethnic group who follow Islam and reside in Rakhine State, Myanmar.

They are denied citizenship under the 1982 Myanmar nationality law and as per the reports, there are several restrictions on their movement, access to state education and civil service jobs.

According to the advocacy group Human Rights Watch (HRW), India hosts about 40,000 Rohingya refugees living in camps and slums in different parts of the country including Jammu, Hyderabad, Nuh, and Delhi.

In Delhi, Rohingya camps are present in Jasola, banks of river Yamuna and other places.

5,000 Rohingyas had sought refuge in Jammu after the 2017 military crackdown against Rohingya Muslims.
