Police have arrested 10 more Rohingyas, including three children, who had fled from Bhashan Char.

They were held from the Ichakhali area under Mirsarai upazila by Zoraganj police early Monday.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Nur Hossain Mamun confirmed the matter, reports Bangla Tribune.

The arrestees have been identified as, Nurjahan Begum, 20, Rehana Akhter, 19, Asiya Begum, 18, Nur Khaiyas, 25, Minara Begum, 20, Monia Begum, 20, Kahina Akter, 32, Jisan, 10, Jannatul Naima, 8, and Jasmine Akter, 12.

Law enforcers have also arrested three local brokers for their involvement in the incident. They are, Belal Hossain, 28, Jewel, 20, and Didarul Alam, 21.

A case has been filed against them under the human trafficking law.

With the latest development, a total of 24 Rohingyas have so far been arrested by the police for fleeing the Bashan Char facilities.

On Sunday, another 14 Rohingya men and women were arrested from Pashchim Maitbhanga Chowdhury Bazar under Sandwip upazila in Chittagong.

OC Mamun said: “The arrested Rohingyas came to the Ichakhali coastal area from Bhashan Char during night time. Acting on a tip-off, a police team went to the area and asked for their [fleeing Rohingyas] names and addresses. They failed to provide any accurate information. They were later arrested.”

He alleged that a group of brokers was helping them to flee Bhashan Char in exchange for money.

“The arrested Rohingyas were made accused in another case filed under the immigration laws,” the OC added.
