KUALA LUMPUR: The KL Summit next month must raise the issues of the oppressed Rohingyas, Kashmiris and Uyghur Muslims, urged Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation (Mapim).
This is because the situation of the three Muslim groups are precarious needing a lasting solution as they are the victims of human rights violation, ethnic and cultural genocide, said Mapim President, Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid, today.
"Even though the plight of the three groups are being raised in the United Nations (UN) debate, the situation has gone from bad to worse.
"The Rohingya suffered eviction, mass murder and rapes. The Uyghur are facing denial of religious rights and incarceration in concentration camps, while the Kashmiris are under lockdown by almost 1 million India troops for more than 3 months," said Azmi.
He stressed that the reality on the ground has always contradicted the narratives given by the government of India, Myanmar and China.
He also described the current situation akin to 'historical moment of darkness,' for the three ethnics , start experiencing almost the same starting time of oppression with the Rohingya and Kashmir in 1947 and Uyghur in 1949.
The fact that a genocide is still rampant, is an urgent call by the Muslim leaders and scholars globally to put across the KL Summit that the situation must be altered immediately, Azmi added.
"Aside from the already well known Palestinian, Syria and Yemen conflicts, the issues of Uyghurs and Rohingyas are still not well deliberated .
*We hope that the KL summit will be successfull in charting the cause for unity of the ummah and the rebuilding of the economic standing and development of the Muslims."
The KL Summit on 18 to 21st December will be attended by Qatar, Turkey president, Pakistan and Indonesia.
With the theme “The Role of Development In Achieving National Sovereignty”, the summit will see the participation of 450 Muslim leaders, thinkers, intellectuals and scholars to discuss and provide their input on issues affecting the Muslim world.
