UN calls to jointly cooperate with Rohingyas

They are scheduled to visit Rohingya camp on Friday

A delegation of 20 members led by three chiefs of the international aid agencies – UN, United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHCR) and International Organization for Migration (IOM) have reached Cox's Bazar to visit the Rohingya camp.

The body also met the Cox's Bazar relief and rehabilitation commissioner Abul Kalam and Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner Ashraful Afsar on Thursday afternoon.



United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) High Commissioner Filippo Grandi said: "The United Nations is working altogether with the international community to solve the Rohingya crisis.

"We have been frequently discussing with Myanmar government for creating a better environment for Rohingyas in Myanmar."

Earlier, the delegation reached Cox's Bazar from Dhaka at around 3pm.

The delegation included UN Under-Secretary-General (Humanitarian Affairs) Mark Lowcock and IOM Director General António Vitorino.

The delegation landed in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon and met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on a courtesy call at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

They are scheduled to visit Rohingya camp on Friday.
