The Rakhine State government has terminated four village administrators in Buthidaung Township in Rakhine State in accord with the procedures, Kyaw Min Tun, the Buthidaung Township Administrator confirmed.

These four administrators are: Kyaw Hla Khaing from Padakar village-tract, Tun Pon from Kyaungtaung village-tract, Kyaw Mya from Gyunpauk village-tract and Kyaw Thaung from Panphaechaung village-tract.

They are from the villages where the border police outposts which experienced the AA’s attacks on January 4, are located.

Kyaw Min Tun said: “Administrators from four village-tracts have been terminated in accordance with the procedures. They were terminated two week ago. Now the department has appointed the acting administrators.”

Kyaw Thaung, the former administrator of Panphaechaung village-tract said: “The Rakhine State government decided to terminate the them as they did not get prior information about the AA’s attacks on border police camps in Buthidaung Township.”

“On February 8, I received a letter of termination dated February 2. The letter is signed by the township administrator. On January 14, the Rakhine State government decided to terminate them. I think it is good for administrators as we are under pressure.”

The AA attacked four border police outposts in Buthidaung Township, January 4, leaving 13 police members dead and nine others injured.
