Rohingya youth shot to death in Teknaf

Another person has been injured in the incident and is undergoing treatment in Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital

Rohingya terrorists have shot dead a 21-year-old man over exerting dominance in a Rohingya camp in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.

The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday at the Nayapara Rohingya camp, Armed Police Battalion (APBN) informed reporters.

The deceased was identified as Dil Mohammad's son, Mohammad Zubair, 21, from block-C of Nayapara camp in Teknaf. He was a member of a local terrorist group named Salman Shah group.

SP Tariqul Islam, commander of Teknaf 16 APBN confirmed the matter.

He said the incident occurred during a clash between the Putia group and the Salman Shah group over a long-running hegemony within the camp. These two groups are involved in extortion and kidnapping business in the Rohingya camps.

In the early hours of Sunday, members of the Putia group picked up Salman Shah's Zubair and shot him dead in a nearby hill.

Later, the people of Salman Shah group hacked and injured Md Jalil of Putia group. He is being treated at Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital.

SP Tariqul Islam said the incident took place due to a dispute between the two groups. Attempts are being made to arrest those involved in the killing.

The body of the deceased was recovered and sent to the morgue of Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy, he added.
