A total of 2,207 Rohingyas started for Bhasan Char from Chattogram in six navy ships today.
This is the fifth batch of Rohingyas refugees who agreed to be relocated to the island.
They boarded the navy ships at 10:30am from Boat Club in Patenga, and were expected to reach Bhasan Char by noon, Deputy Secretary of RRRC Md Moazzom Hossain said.
Abdur Rahim (45) from Kutupalong Rohingya camp, who is going to the island with his family, told The Daily Star that his neighbour has relocated there in the second batch.
"I could not decide whether I will go there or not. But being assured by my neighbour, I decided to move to the island with my family," Rahim told our Chattogram correspondent at Boat Club.
Another batch of 2,000 Rohingyas is expected to move to the island tomorrow.
