Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen yesterday said Bangladesh is committed to the voluntary repatriation of Rohingya refugees to their homeland as soon as Myanmar creates a conducive environment for their safe return.

He was talking to Quoc Dzung, Vietnamese deputy minister of foreign affairs and special envoy to the prime minister, at the foreign ministry.

The minister requested Vietnam to play an active role to get Asean more involved in Rohingya issue and promote dialogue among its members with Myanmar, for early resolution of the crisis.

Dzung pledged US$50,000 in humanitarian assistance from the Vietnam government for the Rohingya, and another US$50,000 for World Food Programme in Bangladesh.
