All of them will be sent to a Cox's Bazar Rohingya camp, says police
Police have arrested 43 Rohingyas, including children, at separate places in Comilla.
They were arrested on Thursday.
Earlier on Thursday afternoon, a group of 16 Rohingyas were detained at Bagra area in Brahmanpara upazila.
Those arrested are: Hamida Begum, 60, wife of the late Sultan Ahmed of Noapara village under Mangadu area of Akyab district in Myanmar; Sabbir Ahmed, 30, son of the late Baru Mia; Hasina Begum, 30, Sabbir’s wife; Sabbir's four children—Jabed, 12, Saber, 10, Majid, 6 and Sadek, 2—; Hamid Nur, 25, son of Abdus Salam; Fatema, 23, Hamid’s wife; Hamid's two sons—Faruk, 3 and Khaiyam Nur, 1—; Nur Haba, 28, wife of Md Rafiq; Abdur Rahim, 10, son of Md Rafiq and Nur Haba; Shahida Akter, 5, daughter of Md Rafiq and Nur Haba; and Ismail, 6, son of the late Abdul Khaleque.
SAM Shahjahan Kabir, Officer-in-Charge of Brahmanpara Police Station, said, acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested them.
All of them will be sent to a Cox's Bazar Rohingya camp, he added.
On Thursday night, another group of about 27 Rohingya people, including 16 children, were detained in front of Kakali restaurant in the Comilla cantonment area.
Comilla Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abu Salam said they were caught while on their way to Dhaka and were sent to a Cox’s Bazar Rohingya camp. There were five men, six women, and sixteen children in the group.
He also said that the detained Rohingyas entered Bangladesh through Agartala border—via India’s Jammu and Kashmir, plus Asam states—from Myanmar.
With these latest detentions, a total of 91 Rohingyas have been detained at separate places in Comilla within the span of a week.
