ဘင်္ဂလားဒေ့ရှ်နိုင်ငံဖက်ကို ထွက်ပြေးသွားတဲ့ ရိုဟင်ဂျာတွေ ပြန်လည်လက်ခံရေးနဲ့ပတ်သတ်ပြီးမောင်တောမြောက် ပိုင်းမှာ မြန်မာ စစ်ကောင်စီဘက်က ပြင်ဆင်ထားတာတွေကို ဒုက္ခသည် တချို့အပါအဝင် ဘင်္ဂလားဒေရှ့်တာဝန် ရှိ သူတွေ ဒီကနေ့ လာရောက် ကြည့်ရှုနေကြပါတယ်။ ဒုက္ခသည်တွေ ပြန်လာမှာကို ကြိုဆိုပေမယ့် သူတို့တောင်း ဆို ထားကြတဲ့ အခွင့်အရေးတွေကိုရမှ ပြန်လာစေချင်တယ်လို့လည်း မောင်တောဒေသခံ ရိုဟင်ဂျာတဦးက ပြောပါ တယ်။ ဒီအကြောင်း ရန်ကုန်က ပေးပို့တဲ့သတင်းကို အခြေခံပြီး ကိုရန်နိုင်က တင်ပြပေးပါမယ်။

Army and police members from Bandarban held 51 Rohingyas, who concealed their identity, and were working as garden workers in Sadar upazila.

 

They were detained on Wednesday after searching a bus headed to Chakria and a jeep going to Alikadam at the Yangcha check post on the Lama Fansiakhali road of the upazila,

Time Is Running out for Indonesia to Turn the Tide on Myanmar

If Indonesia ends up the steward of ASEAN’s failure over Myanmar, Laos – the next chair – will be the gravedigger.

There are two ways of looking at Indonesia’s handling of the Myanmar crisis during its once-a-decade stint as ASEAN chair. Either Indonesia has been ASEAN chairman for only a few months so shouldn’t be blamed for having, so far, not come up with a meaningful policy on the Myanmar crisis. Or it only has eight months left as the chair and if it fails to devise a policy, the entire ASEAN-led response could crumble when it hands over the chairmanship next year to Laos, which is sure to steer the regional bloc down the path of greater acceptance of Myanmar’s military junta.

Upon the handover, Jakarta needs to have in place more than something resembling a coherent policy toward Myanmar. There needs to be a gift-wrapped policy on which there’s so much accord among member states that Laos cannot walk it back. ASEAN’s policy must be able to sustain itself even when in the hands of the disinterested.

Ex-UN Secretary-General Ban makes surprise visit to Myanmar

BANGKOK (AP) — Former U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has made a surprise visit to military-run Myanmar on behalf of a group of elder statesmen that engages in peacemaking and human rights initiatives around the world, local media and a South Korean diplomat said Monday.

State television MRTV reported Monday night that Ban, deputy chair of The Elders, met in the capital, Naypyitaw, with top leader Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing. It said they exchanged views on the situation in Myanmar in a friendly, positive and open discussion. It did not report details of the meeting, which it said was also attended by the ministers of defense and foreign affairs.

More than 150 murders reported in Rohingya camps in Bangladesh since 2017

A Rohingya woman was shot dead at a refugee camp in Bangladesh’s southeastern Cox’s Bazar district, the 24th such killing this year.

Two more women – a Rohingya community leader named Monira Begum and her daughter Noor Fatema – were wounded in the shooting at the Nayapara refugee camp, officials said.

A group of some 15 assailants led by a Rohingya man targeted Monira’s house, according to Mohammad Jamal Pasha, a police official in Cox’s Bazar.
