It was with the warmest of hearts and deepest empathy for human suffering that we welcomed nearly a million Rohingya refugees. But due to their prolonged stay and violent behavior and terrorist activities of some of the Rohingyas, the sympathetic view of that time is changing. During the ‘2017 Ethnic Cleansing Operation’ by the Myanmar military, one of the biggest humanitarian crises in the history of civilization, the ‘Mother of Humanity’ then and current Prime Minister of Bangladesh ‘Sheikh Hasina’ opened Bangladesh’s border to give shelter and safety to nearly 1.2 million Rohingya people on humanitarian ground.

Military Council ministers visited Rakhine to counter Rohingya genocide case against the Myanmar government filed at the ICJ International Court of Justice

The Military Council sent a ministerial team led by U Ko Ko Hlaing, Deputy Chairman of the Steering Committee on Litigation at the ICJ and Minister of International Cooperation, to visit Rakhine state to prepare a counter- claim to the genocide charges filed by Gambia (western African state) against Myanmar at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The Gambia has filed a case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), claiming that Myanmar military committed genocidal crimes against Rohingya Muslims during the 2017 riots in the Maungdaw region of Rakhine State.

In an adapted extract from his new book Return of the Junta: Why Myanmar’s military must go back to the barracks, journalist Oliver Slow reports on his September 2017 trip to the refugee camps in Bangladesh at the height of the Myanmar military’s crackdown against the Rohingya. At the time an editor with Frontier, he travelled with staff photographer Steve Tickner, and the pair documented the desperation those arriving faced, as well as the violence they had endured at the hands of the military.

At 120 kilometres in length, Cox’s Bazar is often billed as the longest beach in the world, and it’s a point of pride for many Bangladeshis, who often travel there for weekend breaks.

The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), Representative in Bangladesh Johannes van der Klaauw has said on Wednesday that the visit of the Queen of the Belgians is a significant support to their ongoing efforts to mobilize sufficient funding for life-saving and life-sustaining assistance.

"The Queen's visit comes as the crisis is well in to its sixth year of displacement, and against the backdrop of a serious decline in available funding," he said.

UNHCR, said the visit of the Queen of the Belgians will help keep the attention on the Rohingya situation, which continues to be one of the largest refugee crises in the world, an UNHCR release said.

The Bangladeshi authorities have relocated another 273 Rohingya people from 53 families, who had taken refuge at the Tumbru border in Bandarban’s Naikhongchhari, to a transit camp in Cox’s Bazar.

The operation to evacuate the refugees from Tumbru, who took shelter there after their camp on the borderline was burnt during a gunfight between armed Rohingya groups, continued for the second day on Monday, said Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner Md Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury.

A 12-hour gunbattle and the torching of a refugee settlement along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border thrust the Rohingya Solidarity Organization, an old armed insurgent group, back into the spotlight.

The fighting last month between members of RSO and the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) insurgents left at least one person dead and forced hundreds of Rohingya refugees to flee the encampment.

ရခိုင်ပြည်နယ်၊ စစ်တွေမြို့ ဆိပ်ကမ်းအနီးမှာ ၂၀၂၃ ခုနှစ်၊ ဇန်နဝါရီလ ၃၁ ရက် ညပိုင်းက မလေးရှားနိုင်ငံကို စက်လှေနဲ့ထွက်ခွာဖို့ကြိုးစားကြတဲ့ ရိုဟင်ဂျာ ၃၆ ဦး ဖမ်းဆီးခံလိုက် ရတယ်လို့ စစ်တွေမြို့ခံတွေက RFA ကို ဒီ နေ့ပြောပါတယ်။

သူတို့ဟာ စစ်တွေ၊ ဘူးသီးတောင်၊ ရသေ့တောင်နဲ့ မောင်တောမြို့နယ်တွေကဖြစ်ပြီး ဖမ်းဆီးခံရတဲ့အထဲ ရိုဟင်ဂျာ အမျိုးသား ၂၈ ဦးနဲ့ အမျိုးသမီး ရှစ်ဦး ပါဝင်တယ်လို့ လုံခြုံရေးအရအမည်မဖော်လိုတဲ့ စစ်တွေမြို့ခံတစ်ဦးက RFA ကိုပြောပါတယ်။

၂၀၂၂ ခုနှစ်၊ ဩဂုတ်လ ၂၉ ရက်နေ့က ဖျာပုံခရိုင်၊ အမာမြို့နယ်ခွဲ ဂယက်ကြီးကျွန်းအနီးတွင် ဖမ်းဆီးခံခဲ့ရသည့် ရိုဟင်ဂျာများအား တွေ့ရစဉ်။

ဧရာဝတီတိုင်း၊ ဖျာပုံနဲ့ ဒေးဒရဲမြို့နယ်တွေမှာ ဖမ်းဆီးခံထားရတဲ့ ရိုဟင်ဂျာအမျိုးသမီး ၁၂ ဦးကို စစ်ကောင်စီရဲ့ တရားရုံးတွေကနေ ပြီးခဲ့တဲ့ ဇန်နဝါရီလ ၂၀ ရက်က ထောင်နှစ်နှစ်စီ ချလိုက်တယ်လို့ ဒေသခံ တွေက RFA ကို ဖေဖော်ဝါရီ ၂ ရက် ဒီနေ့ပြောပါတယ်။

သူတို့ဟာ ရခိုင်ပြည်နယ်ထဲကနေ မလေးရှားနိုင်ငံကိုသွားဖို့ ဧရာဝတီတိုင်းထဲအရောက်မှာ ဖမ်းဆီးခံလိုက်ရသူတွေ ဖြစ်ပြီး လဝက လတ်တလောပြဌာန်းချက်များအက်ဥပဒေ ပုဒ်မ-၆ (၂) နဲ့ တရားစွဲဆိုခံခဲ့ရတာလို့ လုံခြုံရေးအရ အမည်မဖော်လိုတဲ့ ရိုဟင်ဂျာအရေး အကူအညီ ပေးနေသူတစ်ဦးက RFA ကို ပြောပါတယ်။
