ရခိုင်ပြည်နယ်က ထွက်ပြေးသွားခဲ့ကြတဲ့ ရိုဟင်ဂျာတွေဟာ ဘင်္ဂလားဒေ့ရှ်က ကမ္ဘာ့အကြီးဆုံး ဒုက္ခသည် စခန်းကြီးထဲမှာ နေထိုင်ခဲ့ကြတာ ၃နှစ်အထိ ရှိနေခဲ့ပါပြီ။ အဲဒီမှာလည်း အကြမ်းဖက်မှုတွေ၊ မူးယစ်ဆေး ဝါး မှုတွေ နဲ့ လူကုန်ကူးမှုပြဿနာတွေကြောင့် သူတို့ရဲ့ လုံခြုံရေးအခြေအနေက တည်တည်ငြိမ်ငြိမ် မရှိသေးပါ ဘူး။ ဒုက္ခသည်စခန်းထဲမှာ မှုခင်းဖြစ်ပွားမှုတွေများပြားနေတာကြောင့် စခန်းမှာနေထိုင်ကြသူတွေကို ဘာရှန် ချာလို့ ခေါ်တဲ့ ကျွန်းလေးဆီကို ပို့ဖို့ ဘင်္ဂလားဒေ့ရှ် အာဏာပိုင်တွေက စီစဉ်နေပါတယ်။ အဲဒီမှာ ဘယ်လို အခြေအနေတွေရှိနေပါသလဲ။ ကိုဘိုဘိုက ပြောပြပေးမှာပါ။

WFP reopens fresh food corners at Rohingya camps

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has reopened its fresh food corners at Rohingya camps in Cox's Bazar, allowing trade and business activities to resume after months of closure due to Covid-19 prevention measures.

By May 2021, WFP hopes to bring the farmers' market to 30 percent of the population at the camps, with monthly transactions touching $500,000.

Ever since the mass influx of Rohingyas from Myanmar to Bangladesh in 2017, China had been behind the scenes in the repatriation process. It then came to the fore in 2018, being directly involved in the talks for repatriation. But despite China’s direct and indirect role, Myanmar has done nothing to actually take the Rohingyas back.

US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale

US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale has pressed Myanmar to end conflicts and secure return of the Rohingyas sheltered in Bangladesh.

"Under Secretary Hale pressed the Burmese government to end conflict across the country and secure the voluntary, safe, dignified, and sustainable return of Rohingya and other refugees and internally displaced persons," according to a readout of the US State Department.

The Arakan Army, an insurgent group whose activities have severely affected the India-backed Kaladan multi-modal transport project in Myanmar, has benefited from the clandestine transfer and smuggling of Chinese-made weaponry, people familiar with developments said on Monday.

The group, designated a terrorist organisation by Naypyitaw, clashed with Myanmarese troops on nearly 600 occasions last year, and a majority of the skirmishes occurred in close proximity to the $480-million Kaladan project.

The EU mobilized a total of €96 million for Rohingya refugees in 2020 for humanitarian, development co-operation as well as conflict prevention support.

Representing the EU at the conference, Crisis Management Commissioner Janez Lenarčič said: “Today the international community came together to show its support and deliver further assistance to hundreds of thousands of Rohingya refugees and the communities hosting them. We must do all we can so the Rohingya crisis does not become a forgotten tragedy. At this difficult time, the EU continues to stand by the most vulnerable with this emergency humanitarian support.”

The long-awaited transfer of a Russian-made Kilo-class submarine from India to Myanmar took place last week during Myanmar’s Bandoola fleet exercise. The submarine, UMS Min Ye Thein Kha Thu, a decades-old diesel boat, is only a single vessel but it has significance in Myanmar’s immediate neighborhood and is also indicative of the increasing strategic competition in the Indo-Pacific.

Police have arrested eight people, including seven Rohingyas, over yaba sale and for their suspected involvement in yaba trade in Munshiganj.

They were arrested in two separate drives on Saturday afternoon --- one at Muktarpur, and the other at Goalimandra in Louhajang.
