■ ရိုဟင်ဂျာလူမျိုးတုန်းသတ်ဖြတ်မှု စွပ်စွဲချက်နဲ့ ICJ အပြည်ပြည်ဆိုင်ရာတရားရုံးမှာ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံအပေါ် တိုင် ကြား ထားတဲ့အမှုမှာ ဒေါ်အောင်ဆန်းစုကြည်ကိုယ်တိုင် တရားရုံးတက်ပြီး ရင်ဆိုင်ခဲ့တဲ့အတွက် ပြည်တွင်း မှာ ဒေါ်အောင်ဆန်းစုကြည်ရဲ့ နိုင်ငံရေးသြဇာ ပိုမြင့်မားလာတာ တွေ့ရပါတယ်။

နိုင်ငံတကာမှာတော့ ရခိုင်ပြည်နယ်မှာ မြန်မာ့တပ်မတော်ရဲ့ လုပ်ဆောင်ချက်တွေအပေါ် ဒေါ်အောင်ဆန်း စု ကြည်က ကာကွယ်ပြောဆိုခဲ့တဲ့အတွက် ဝေဖန်မှုတွေက ပိုများလာပါတယ်။ လူ့အခွင့်အရေး တိုက်ပွဲဝင်သူ ဒီမိုကရေစီ ခေါင်းဆောင်တဦးအဖြစ် ကမ္ဘာကသိကြတဲ့ ဒေါ်အောင်ဆန်းစုကြည်အပေါ် မတူကွဲပြားတဲ့ အမြင် တွေ အကြောင်း RFA ဝိုင်းတော်သား စောဖိုးခွားက တင်ပြထားပါတယ်။

Yangon, Myanmar - While thousands rallied in Yangon in December to support Myanmar's government as it contested allegations of genocide at the International Court of Justice, the public response to the first of the court's rulings has been decidedly more muted.

The inability of international law to effectively address situations of mass human rights atrocities, in particular genocide, within states has been the source of much consternation for international lawyers. The term genocide, deriving from the Greek prefix genos meaning race or tribe and the Latin suffix cide meaning killing, was coined by Polish lawyer Raphael Lemkin in 1944, in the aftermath of the Holocaust.

ICJ sets deadline for The Gambia regarding ‘Rohingya genocide’ case

The International Court of Justice has asked The Gambia to file its initial pleadings by July 23 in the case against Myanmar.

Myanmar, which is accused of genocide against Rohingyas, will then have to file the counter-memorial on January 25 next year.

“The Court made the order taking into account the exceptional circumstances of the case and its gravity,” said the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in a statement on Tuesday.

Education for Rohingya Children

The UN and global humanitarian community have lauded Bangladesh’s decision to expand the access to formal education for Rohingya children living in refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar.

The decision was taken on Monday at the meeting of the National Task Force on Rohignya crisis, chaired by Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen at the foreign ministry.

In line with the decision, the education sector for the humanitarian response in Cox’s Bazar now plans to pilot the introduction of the Myanmar curriculum in the Rohingya refugee camps starting in April. Initially, it targets 10,000 Rohingya students from sixth to ninth grade.

WFP in Bangladesh welcomes a new contribution of £8 million from the United Kingdom to support the Rohingya refugees

DHAKA – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Bangladesh welcomes a new contribution of GBP 8 million (USD10,296,010) from the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID) to support the Rohingya refugee response in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.

This new contribution will support WFP to provide 270,600 refugees with life-saving assistance over three months through electronic vouchers (e-vouchers). This programme allows refugees to purchase a variety of food items from 25 WFP e-voucher outlets across the Rohingya refugee camps.

Rights groups and activists have welcomed Bangladesh's decision to allow Rohingya children living in sprawling refugee camps to receive a formal education, calling it a "positive step".

Hundreds of thousands of Rohingya children, who fled a brutal crackdown in neighbouring Myanmar along with their parents in 2017, only receive primary education in temporary learning centres set up by international NGOs and the UN children's agency UNICEF.

The eyes of the international community are on the United States following the Order of 23 January 2020 made by the International Court of Justice regarding the case of The Gambia v. Myanmar in which the Republic of the Union of Myanmar is ordered to protect their ethnic Rohingya minority against genocide. Myanmar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded declaring that the case, which saw a panel of 17 judges vote unanimously in making the ruling, was a “distorted picture of the situation.”
